Anne is so warm and inviting. It feels like you’ve known her for years even when first meeting her. You can tell Anne cares deeply and is invested in her clients succeeding and working towards their goals. She also has a great sense of humor which is so helpful in this kind of work.

Fun facts about Anne: After her years in the corporate sector, and after experiencing her own positive transformation in therapy, she decided to “pay it forward” and to help others do the same by pursuing a career counseling psychology. She is a lifelong student of the performing arts including everything from Opera to Improv and loves to utilize humor and creativity as a therapeutic tool. She is also an abstract artist in her free time and loves to utilize the arts in her therapy style.

Anne believes that our past experiences shape our lives and that it is important to carefully examine critical and sometimes difficult moments. She believes that there is no “quick fix” in therapy and that true change takes time. By doing this, we are able to acknowledge and process associated emotions ultimately helping us to become our healthiest selves. Anne primarily uses Psychodynamic theory while incorporating mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment, and Relational Therapy. She is warm and empathetic, humorous and honest. She provides a safe space where clients can explore and hopefully discover their purpose in life. Anne takes the time to understand what brings her clients into therapy, learns each client’s personal histories and perspectives, and collaboratively facilitates self-discovery, clarity, action and positive growth.

Anne’s goal is to help her client’s explore and discover who they truly are. She understands the impact of this discovery firsthand and that this exploration can lead to a life that is more fulfilling, more gratifying, and more successful. She provides a therapeutic environment that is unconditionally accepting and inclusive, her clients feel accepted and free to express and explore. 

At Next Step Counseling, Anne successfully works with those who seek to have a better understanding of self. Her specialties include working with victims of narcissism, relationship concerns, body image, self-esteem, anxiety, depression and trauma. Anne is passionate about supporting clients who are searching for life purpose, those looking to feel better about themselves and to feel better in general.

Anne is a graduate of The Chicago School of Professional Psychology Counseling Psychology program and a Licensed Professional Counselor. She received her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University where she majored in Vocal Performance. She continues to study Psychoanalysis at The Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute.
